Anthony Pilkington 'will cost Norwich £3 million'

Huddersfield dismiss reports of an approach from Norwich for Anthony Pilkington, saying he is undervalued.

Norwich will have to pay as much as £3 million for Anthony Pilkington after Huddersfield dismissed rumours of a £1.75 million bid.

Tabloid reports had suggested that the newly-promoted Canaries had made an approach for the 23-year-old striker, who scored 14 times last season.

Huddersfield Town manager Lee Clark said there had been "no contact" about a possible transfer but dismissed the rumoured bid as insufficient.

"He’s one of the best players in the Football League and I’m not surprised he’s being linked with Premier League clubs," Clark told the Norwich Evening News.

"The rumours are pretty much inevitable, but the figures being talked about are hugely below our valuation, and the best way to look at them is that they confirm we are doing the right things in signing talented young players and developing them.”

The Sun claims that Norwich will now have to offer £3 million to secure the services of Pilkington, who is currently recovering from a broken leg and dislocated ankle.
