Steve Cotterill hopes that Nottingham Forest's victory over Middlesbrough will give everybody connected with the club a lift.

Steve Cotterill was "pleased" to get his stint as manager of Nottingham Forest off to a winning start this evening.

Goals from Marcus Tudgay and Lewis McGugan were enough for the Tricky Trees to claim all three points against Middlesbrough at the City Ground.

Speaking after the win, new boss Cotterill said he hopes that the three points will give the whole club a lift.

"I'm really, really pleased for everybody to be honest," Cotterill told Sky Sports News. "It has been a tough season for everybody connected with Nottingham Forest.

"Hopefully tonight that's given everybody a lift.

"Tonight I thank the players for their effort and we can enjoy our day tomorrow."

Next up for Cotterill's Forest is a trip to Blackpool on Saturday afternoon.
