Nottingham Forest are reportedly interested in signing free agent Jamie Ward.
The 29-year-old forward is without a club following his surprise release by Forest's arch-rivals Derby County earlier this week.
The Northern Ireland international was told by Rams head coach Steve McClaren that he was surplus to requirements at the iPro Stadium despite having a year to run on his contract, and Forest are leading the race for his signature, according to the Nottingham Post.
The Reds are only able to sign free agents and loan players due to their transfer embargo, and Ward would fit within those restrictions.
Ward joined Derby from Sheffield United in 2011 and scored 34 goals in 149 games for them.
