Emir Spahic double downs Nuremberg

Emir Spahic scores a brace of goals as Bayer Leverkusen defeat Nuremberg 4-1 at the Stadion Nurnberg.

Centre-back Emir Spahic scored twice as Bayer Leverkusen recorded a 4-1 victory from their trip to Nuremberg this afternoon.

The Bosnian centre-back broke the deadlock with a strike from long range in the 16th minute, but that was cancelled out by Marvin Plattenhardt 10 minutes later.

However, Leverkusen regained the initiative shortly after the restart through Sebastian Boenisch, before Spahic made sure of the outcome by scoring his second of the match in the 80th minute.

There was still time in the closing stages for Roberto Hilbert to add a fourth for the visitors, who have leapfrogged Wolfsburg into the final Champions League qualification berth.
