Brighton & Hove Albion rebuff Osasuna's Oscar Garcia approach

Osasuna are denied the opportunity to talk to recently-appointed Brighton head coach Oscar Garcia about their vacant management post, according to a report.

Brighton & Hove Albion have reportedly turned down Osasuna's request to talk to head coach Oscar Garcia about their vacant managerial position.

The 40-year-old was only appointed as Seagulls boss in June after the sacking of Gus Poyet, and has led the club to seven points from their opening five Championship matches.

Osasuna are without a manager following the firing of Jose Luis Mendilibar on Tuesday, when the La Liga outfit suffered their third consecutive loss since the start of the season.

Sky Sports New understands that Los Rojillos want to bring Garcia, a former player at Barcelona, back to Spain as Mendilibar's successor, but Brighton have rebuffed their advances.

Garcia had previously had a stint in charge of Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv before he took over at the Falmer Stadium.
