Parma postpone Genoa game as financial crisis worsens

Parma surrender their Serie A game against Genoa as the club's players request a postponement over unpaid wages.

Parma's game with Genoa on Sunday has been postponed after their players complained over unpaid wages.

Reports last weekend claimed that the financially-stricken club were close to going out of business as their money problems sunk to greater depths.

They were unable to fulfil their fixture against Udinese and will not be making the trip to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris either.

Captain Alessandro Lucarelli told the club website: "We will not play in Genoa. We have requested for the game to be postponed.

"If they don't grant us that, then we will go on strike and we will be given a 3-0 defeat."

Parma would be automatically excluded from Serie A should they opt out of three more of their fixtures, with their remaining games awarded as 3-0 wins to their opponents.

Reports this week have claimed that Parma players, whose have not been paid by their employers all season, have been asked to wash their own kit and make their own way to matches in recent months.
