Neil Aspin left the club last week.

Port Vale have appointed John Askey as their new manager until the end of the season.

Askey, who has previously had spells in charge of Macclesfield and Shrewsbury, replaces Neil Aspin who stepped down from the role last week.

The 54-year-old, who began his playing career in Vale's youth ranks, is joined by his assistant manager Dave Kevan.

Vale chief executive Colin Garlick told the club's official website: "We wish John and Dave all the very best as they take up their new positions with the club.

"My staff and I will do all we can to support them and I ask all Valiants to do the same.

"I'd also like to thank Danny Pugh, Ronnie Sinclair and Michael Tonge for stepping in last week and working in a helpful and professional manner."
