Michael Appleton focused on Portsmouth

Portsmouth manager Michael Appleton insists that he is ignoring speculation linking him with the vacant managerial jobs at Burnley and Bolton Wanderers.

Portsmouth manager Michael Appleton has insisted that he is fully focused on his job at League One club Portsmouth.

The former West Bromwich Albion coach has been linked with the managerial vacancies at Bolton Wanderers and Burnley, but he says that his job at Portsmouth is enough for him to concentrate on.

Appleton told BBC Radio Solent: "It's easy for me to put the speculation out of my mind.

"I can't control what other people around me think or do, how they react to it or how the players react to it.

"I've got a tough enough job as it is to start worrying about other jobs."

Appleton has guided Portsmouth to 12th place in League One after the club began the season days away from going into liquidation.
