Ginola claims Ibrahimovic, Cavani are 'too selfish' to play together

Former PSG winger David Ginola believes that Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani will struggle to forge a successful partnership in the French capital.

Former France international David Ginola has claimed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani are both 'too selfish' to form a successful partnership with one another.

Cavani moved from Napoli to Paris Saint-Germain when the French side triggered the striker's release clause with a £54m bid, while Ibrahimovic scored 30 goals last season to help his side to the Ligue 1 title.

For all their qualities, Ginola believes that the forwards will struggle to perform in the same team.

"The main questions about PSG this season are: 'will Cavani and Ibra get along?' and 'will [Javier] Pastore play?'," Ginola told L'Equipe.

"It is important for Cavani to score goals. This is what he will judged on, and the same for Ibra. They're both strikers and have to be selfish, so I am waiting to see how they will get along.

"It will be complicated for Pastore, too. He did not have a great season last year, and there is more competition now. There are almost too many good players in attack for PSG."

David Ginola has recently joined the BT Sport team as a football expert and co-commentator.
