Sports Mole looks back over the 0-0 draw between Queens Park Rangers and Norwich City at Loftus Road.

Relegation-threatened Queens Park Rangers played out a 0-0 draw with out-of-form Norwich City at Loftus Road this afternoon.

Due to the enormity of the match, both sides ended up cancelling each other out, with neither able to find the net.

Hosting QPR had the best chance in the second half, but Adel Taarabt saw his penalty saved by Mark Bunn.

Below, Sports Mole has looked back over the clash to determine if either side can argue that they deserved to take all three points.

Match statistics:

QPR:
Shots 15
On target 7
Possession 49%
Corners 10
Fouls 6

Norwich:
Shots 14
On target 9
Possession 51%
Corners 8
Fouls 20

Was the result fair?

QPR will argue that during the second half in particular that they were the side that created the better of the chances. They may have a case, but even so Norwich were always in this encounter and looked dangerous on the counter-attack. With that in mind, you'd have to say that a share of the spoils was just about right.

QPR's performance

As mentioned above, the R's huffed and puffed throughout, but were not rewarded for their efforts. They've had trouble scoring goals recently and on today's evidence, you can see why. It's neat and tidy football up until a point, but the cutting edge was lacking. Perhaps that will return when Loic Remy recovers from a groin injury.

Norwich's performance

Chris Hughton is likely to be impressed with his team. Granted they were on the back foot at times, but they defended well and when the rearguard was breached, Bunn did well with the gloves. It wasn't all about defending though because Hughton's team did manage to create a handful of chances, but their finishing was wasteful.

Sports Mole's man of the match

Sebastien Bassong: The defender was absent for three Norwich matches recently and during that time they have shipped 15 goals. Today, you can see why they miss him so much. He won numerous challenges in the air and was always on hand to hack clear crosses that came into the area.

Biggest gaffe

The match was only a couple of minutes old when Robert Snodgrass picked out Wes Hoolahan all alone inside the QPR area. However, the Republic of Ireland international only succeeded in lifting the ball over the target from just six yards out. He usually has such a deft touch and you would have backed him to score there without any hesitation.

Referee performance

He may have got a little card happy during the closing stages when the match opened up a bit, but by and large Jon Moss performed well. One pleasing aspect was the fact that he allowed play to continue before then returning to an incident to book a player.

What next?

QPR: Next Saturday's the R's will travel to Wales for an encounter with Swansea City.

Norwich: The Canaries also play on the same day but are at home, with Fulham the visitors to Carrow Road.
