Rangers survive Arbroath scare

Rangers twice comes from behind to see off Arbroath in Scottish League One.

Rangers twice came from behind to defeat Arbroath 3-2 at Ibrox in this afternoon's Scottish League one showdown.

The visitors took a surprise lead as early as the second minute when David Banjo got on the end of Alan Cook's cross and beat Cammie Bell in the Gers goal.

Ally McCoist's side piled on the pressure after falling behind and their dominant play paid off in the 20th minute when Jon Daly tapped home a Lee Wallace cross to draw the league leaders level.

Rangers continued to control the pace of the game, but fell behind against the run of play four minutes into the second half when Bobby Linn slotted one beyond Bell after racing clear of the hosts' defence.

Arbroath's lead lasted until the 71st minute when David Templeton ran at the visitors' rear guard and fired a low shot into the net to restore parity once again.

McCoist's team took the lead for the first time this afternoon five minutes later via the penalty spot after Daly tumbled in the area, allowing skipper Lee McCulloch to fire home from 12 yards and steal all three points.
