Nigel Adkins praises his Reading players for the progress they have shown in beating Fulham 4-2.

Reading manager Nigel Adkins has admitted that his side's first win in 12 games away to Fulham shows that they are making progress.

The already relegated Royals won 4-2 in a thrilling game at Craven Cottage, with Adkins claiming that scoring so many away from home will provide some excitement to the fans ahead of their attempt to return to the top flight next season.

"We have to target progression in the final games of the season," he told Sky Sports News.

"The reality is there has been a change at the club, it is a shame where we are, but we have to keep looking forward.

"Credit to the players. We played some really good football. To come away from home, and score four goals is very exciting for the supporters."

The result leaves Fulham in 12th place.
