Reading captain Jobi McAnuff claims that the players feel responsible for the recent sacking of former manager Brian McDermott.

Reading captain Jobi McAnuff has claimed that the players feel responsible for the sacking of former manager Brian McDermott.

McDermott was dismissed from the Madejski Stadium on Monday with the club four points from safety in the Premier League table.

"As players we all feel responsible for the decision that has been made as it's our performances out there on the pitch haven't been good enough and that's something we are trying our hardest to address," McAnuff told Sky Sports News.

Former Swindon Town boss Paolo Di Canio is the favourite to replace McDermott.
