Fernando Llorente claims Real Madrid interest

Juventus striker Fernando Llorente says that Real Madrid tried to sign him when he was at Athletic Bilbao.

Fernando Llorente has claimed that Real Madrid tried to sign him "a few times" when he was at his former club Athletic Bilbao.

The Spaniard, who now represents Juventus, could feature when his Italian side travel to the Santiago Bernabeu in the Champions League on Wednesday.

"Was there interest from Madrid? Yes, there was real interest. But in the end there was no agreement and nothing came out of it," he told AS.

"How many times have they tried to sign me? A few times or so. When? The last was when I had a year to go on my contract, after the good year in the Europa League."

The 28-year-old was been linked with a loan move away from Juve in the January window.
