Real Madrid chiefs 'have growing doubts over Zinedine Zidane'

Real Madrid chiefs are reportedly doubting Zinedine Zidane's ability to take the club forward after their Champions League defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk.

The powers-that-be at Real Madrid are reportedly slowly losing faith in manager Zinedine Zidane following another Champions League defeat.

Shakhtar Donetsk secured a memorable 2-0 victory on home turf against Los Blancos on Tuesday evening, with the Ukrainian side also getting the better of Zidane's men 3-2 in the Spanish capital back in October.

Real Madrid can still book their spot in the last 16 of Europe's elite competition, but Zidane's men currently sit third in the group ahead of their final Group B clash with current leaders Borussia Monchengladbach next week.

With the La Liga champions also making a stuttering start to their title defence, Marca claims that Madrid chiefs have growing doubts over the Frenchman's ability to take the club forward.

The report claims that the former Galactico will be assessed over Real's next few games heading into the new year, but should results not improve, Zidane's future will be hanging in the balance.

The illustrious Frenchman won three consecutive Champions League crowns and one La Liga title during his first stint in the Bernabeu dugout, and Zidane has since led Real to another top-flight and Supercopa de Espana triumph since returning to the helm in March 2019.
