Xabi Alonso warns Barcelona that Real Madrid are in good shape and are confident ahead of the new season.

Xabi Alonso has warned rivals Barcelona that that Real Madrid are ready for the new season.

Madrid have already made several new signings including Isco and Asier Illarramendi, and have also been linked with a world record move for Gareth Bale.

On top of that Zinedine Zidane has joined the coaching set-up and midfielder Alonso believes that the side are in a great position ahead of the new campaign.

"I think the new signings have been good for the team and the important thing is that we have built the base," Alonso said in an interview with Adidas.

"We are feeling very good about the season and have the highest of expectations.

"I have always admired him (Zidane) a lot. He is someone every footballer looks up to. I'm very motivated about working alongside him."

Madrid take on Everton in a pre-season friendly this morning.
