Gareth Bale proud of Real Madrid debut

Gareth Bale takes to Twitter to say that he is proud to have scored on his Real Madrid debut against Villarreal in La Liga.

Gareth Bale has taken to Twitter to say that he is proud to have scored on his Real Madrid debut in La Liga.

The Welsh winger, who completed a world-record £85m transfer a fortnight ago, got Los Blancos back on level terms after Cani had given Villarreal the lead.

Cristiano Ronaldo then put the away side ahead, before former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovanni dos Santos grabbed an equaliser five minutes later.

"Proud to score on my debut and pleased to get 60 minutes tonight, just disappointed not to get the result," Bale wrote on Twitter. "Looking forward to Tuesday now."

Bale, who has struggled with injuries throughout pre-season, was substituted after an hour.
