Roberto Carlos: 'Real Madrid do not want me as coach'

Former Brazilian international Roberto Carlos claims that Real Madrid currently 'do not want him' as a coach at the Bernabeu.

Roberto Carlos has claimed that Real Madrid currently 'do not want him' as a coach at the Bernabeu.

The Brazilian spent 11 years with Real Madrid between 1996 and 2007, winning four La Liga titles and three Champions League crowns with the Spanish giants.

It had been claimed that the 43-year-old would join Zinedine Zidane's coaching team at the Bernabeu for the new season, but Carlos has said that he is currently not wanted in that capacity.

"I spoke with the club [about a management role] but they don't want me," said Carlos at a Real Madrid Foundation press conference. "They said that for now they want me to continue as an ambassador. When I have the opportunity to return to the training field I will but at the moment I'm happy as an ambassador."

Since hanging up his boots, Carlos has earned managerial experience with Anzhi Makhachkala, Sivasspor, Akhisar Belediyespor and Delhi Dynamos.
