Iker Casillas: 'Everything different at Porto'

Veteran goalkeeper Iker Casillas hints that he is much happier at Porto than he was during the latter stages of his Real Madrid career.

Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas has admitted that he is now much happier with his football after joining Porto from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

The 34-year-old represented Real Madrid between 1990 and 2015, but despite his service to the capital side, he departed under a cloud due to a strained relationship with the club's supporters.

Casillas has revealed that the goal, to "play football", is the same at both Real Madrid and Porto, but has hinted that he is now far happier in his new surroundings in Portugal.

"I came to Porto to get the enthusiasm back and so it has proved. The ambition to do well in your work is very important for a footballer. We have a beautiful profession and can reach many people," AS quotes Casillas as saying.

"I want to win trophies and display them for the fans. It would be nice because it would be something new, despite all the celebrations with Madrid in the Cibeles [the fountain at which Madrid celebrate trophies]."

"The truth is [coming to Porto] was a sudden and radical change. The sense is that everything is different to the previous situation but the goal is the same: play football."

Casillas won five La Liga titles during his time at the Bernabeu, in addition to three Champions League crowns.
