Real Madrid have confirmed the appointment of Fernando Hierro as the club's new first-team coach ahead of next season.
A position was left vacant recently after Zinedine Zidane was named the new head coach of Real Madrid Castilla, who suffered relegation to the Spanish league's third tier in the previous campaign.
It is Hierro's first coaching job since announcing his retirement from playing in 2005, and he will join Paul Clement as one of Carlo Ancelotti's closest assistants.
The 46-year-old, who appeared 89 times for Spain at full international level, spent 14 years at the club as a player until his departure in 2003.
