Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has admitted that he is not a fan of video technology in football.

The Video Assistant Referee system is currently being trialled at the 2016 Club World Cup and was in use during Real Madrid's 2-0 victory over Club America in the competition's second semi-final.

Cristiano Ronaldo's late strike for the Spanish giants was initially ruled offside following a call from the video referee, but the goal was eventually given after a period of confusion on the pitch.

Modric has claimed that the VAR system "creates a lot of confusion" and he does not want to see the technology introduced to football on a long-term basis.

"It's a new idea. To be honest, I don't like it. I think it creates a lot of confusion and I hope the rule doesn't continue because, for me, it's not football. We have to focus on our game but the first impression is not good," Modric told reporters.

Real Madrid will attempt to win their second Club World Cup trophy when they face Japanese side Kashima Antlers in the final of the competition on Sunday.
