Brazilian legend Ronaldinho has claimed that Barcelona forward Lionel Messi is the best player in the world.
The former Blaugrana playmaker believes that the Argentina international is playing football that is superior to anyone else in history.
"For me, Messi is the best in the world," Ronaldinho told ESPN. "During the past few years he has played football at a level we have never seen before.
"I feel proud as well because I was there when it started and now he is the best. Messi knows he'll always have a place in my heart.
"Cristiano Ronaldo has been making history for many years. But the best in the world is Messi."
Ronaldinho played for Barcelona between 2003 and 2008, and won La Liga two times and the Champions League once.
