AS Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim acknowledges that the Ligue 1 champions may struggle to keep Kylian Mbappe at the club for the upcoming campaign.

AS Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim has admitted that it may be difficult for the Ligue 1 champions to keep hold of their best players.

The Monte-Carlo based outfit have already seen a number of players leave for pastures new, while the futures of Thomas Lemar and Kylian Mbappe remain up in the air.

Mbappe is being linked with an €180m (£162.43m) move to Real Madrid and while Jardim has acknowledged that Monaco will do what they can to keep the teenager at Stade Louis II, the Portuguese coach has hinted that his star man may make an exit.

The 43-year-old told reporters: "It's important to keep all of the players who were important last season at the club, but down the years it has been shown that it is not always possible to keep hold of your players and you know how our project works.

"Therefore, our objective is to work with the players that are still here when the transfer window closes."

On Friday night, both Lemar and Mbappe featured as Monaco registered a 3-2 win over Toulouse in their opening league match of the season.
