Kylian Mbappe says that his dream of playing for Real Madrid is "never over", suggesting that the door is not closed on a potential future move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Kylian Mbappe has left the door open to a future move to Real Madrid despite snubbing the Spanish giants to sign a new deal with Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite being widely expected to sign with Real Madrid at the conclusion of his contract in the summer, Mbappe put pen to paper on a new three-year deal at the Parc des Princes last week.

Although his new contract angered La Liga, who have filed a complaint to UEFA after releasing a statement, Mbappe has indicated that the door remains open to a future move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

When asked about whether the hope of moving to Real Madrid was over, Mbappe told BBC Sport: "Never over, You never know what can happen in the future. I give up to think about the future, I only think about the present and the present is I signed a new contract for three years more at Paris Saint-Germain.

"It was last week I made the decision to stay. First of all I spoke to the president of Real Madrid because I have a lot of respect for him and the club.

"I think it was important to say it personally that I wasn't going to go. To be a great player [you have] to be honest and everything was great and good because we have a good relationship."

Mbappe will now focus on adding to the vast number of trophies he has already won with PSG, which includes four Ligue 1 titles.
