Declan Rice deliberating between Republic of Ireland, England

Martin O'Neill reveals that Declan Rice has been left out of Republic of Ireland's squad as the youngster is deliberating over whether to switch allegiance to England.

Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill has revealed that versatile West Ham United defender Declan Rice has yet to make a decision on his international allegiance.

The 19-year-old's three appearances for Ireland have come in friendlies, meaning that he can still switch to country of birth England should he wish.

Rice was a glaring omission from the Boys in Green's squad for the upcoming games against Wales and Poland, with O'Neill explaining that the youngster is still deliberating over his future.

"I've spoken to him, I've spoke to the family," he told reporters. "His father is an absolute gentleman, he's very keen for him to play for us too but the lad just needs a little bit more time.

"He's been brilliant for us in senior games. I think the Republic of Ireland have done everything to sell the country to him. He's been welcomed by the players, by the fans too. I'm not so sure what else we can do. Obviously the country of his birth have come calling."

Preston North End striker Callum Robinson, who qualifies for Ireland through his maternal grandmother, has been included in O'Neill's squad.
