Roma general manager Franco Baldini has asked for the media to "shut up" about Daniele De Rossi's future at the club.
The midfielder, whose contract expires in June 2012, has been linked with moves away from Serie A.
"We talk too much about this and we must learn to shut up. I will only say that De Rossi, as a man and as a player, is a person we need," Baldini told Corriere dello Sport.
"Why are there so many difficulties? We are talking about a player, scouted all over the world, with only six months left on his deal.
"He is an intelligent man, at the top of his career, tempted by many offers. That is the difficulty. He is legitimately evaluating all the options and I hope he won't decide to leave."
De Rossi signed his first professional terms with Roma in 2001.
