Preview: Ross County vs. Livingston - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Wednesday's Scottish Premiership clash between Ross County and Livingston, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

On Wednesday, tenth-placed Ross County will look to extend their unbeaten run to four games when they face Livingston in the Scottish Premiership.

The visitors are three points better off than their hosts, and after beating Aberdeen at the weekend, the Lions will be aiming to clinch consecutive victories.

Having collected two points from their previous two league games, Ross County travelled to Dens Park on Saturday with the aim of picking up a crucial away victory against Dundee.

After falling behind courtesy of Zak Rudden's opener, Joseph Hungbo restored parity in first-half stoppage time to ensure that the Staggies would go into the break level and the visitors had the chance to go ahead in the 59th minute after being awarded a penalty, but Regan Charles-Cook was unable to convert.

With 10 minutes left to play, Charles-Cook made amends for his penalty miss when he clinically finished to give his side a 2-1 win.

Ross County will return to Dingwall for a home fixture on Wednesday, and after losing once in their previous seven home games, the hosts will believe that they can pick up a positive result.

Despite their impressive recent record at home, the Staggies do hold the worst defensive home record in the Scottish top flight after conceding 22 goals at Victoria Park this season, which will be a cause for concern ahead of the midweek contest.

Meanwhile, Livingston head into Wednesday's encounter in eighth place, and the visitors will be in a positive mood after winning four of their last six league games in all competitions.

The Lions are looking to claim back-to-back victories after earning a 2-1 win over Aberdeen at the Tony Macaroni Arena on Saturday.

Ayo Obileye gave the hosts the lead in the eighth minute before Alan Forrest doubled his side's advantage, and although Christian Ramirez pulled a goal back for Aberdeen, Livingston held firm despite playing the final stages with 10 men following Cristian Montano's dismissal.

Livingston will now turn their attention to Wednesday's away fixture, with David Martindale aware that his side must find their goalscoring touch on the road after failing to score in seven of their 13 away league games this season.

Despite struggling to find the net of their travels this term, the Lions will look to draw confidence from their recent record against Ross County, which has seen Livingston win five of the last seven competitive meetings between the two sides.

Team News

A groin injury means that David Cancola is expected to miss out for Ross County on Wednesday.

Following the impressive victory at the weekend, Malky Mackay could name an unchanged lineup for the midweek contest.

Charles-Cook scored his 11th league goal of the season against Hibernian, and Ross County's top goalscorer will look to continue his impressive campaign against Livingston.

As for the visitors, injury has kept Tom Parkes out since early December and the 30-year-old is set to miss the midweek contest.

After receiving a red card at the weekend, Montano will be suspended for the trip to Ross County.

Meanwhile, Martindale may make a couple of changes with Scott Pittman and Odin Bailey expected to return to the starting lineup.

Ross County possible starting lineup:
Laidlaw; Randall, Watson, Iacovitti, Vokins; Tillson, Spittal, Callachan; Hungbo, Charles-Cook, White

Livingston possible starting lineup:
Stryjek; Devlin, Fitzwater, Obileye, Penrice; Omeonga, Holt, Pittman; Bailey, Forrest, Anderson

We say: Ross County 1-2 Livingston

The two sides have already met on three occasions this term, playing twice in the league, while they faced off in the Scottish Cup last month.

Two of those contests ended in Livingston victories, while the other encounter ended level, and given their impressive recent record against Ross County, we think that the Lions will emerge victorious on Wednesday.
