Half-Time Report: Jordan Bowery strike puts Rotherham United ahead

Rotherham United take the lead on the stroke of half time against Cambridge United through Jordan Bowery.

Rotherham United's Jordan Bowery has struck in first-half injury time to put his side ahead against Cambridge United at New York Stadium.

Kelle Roos was given an early scare when Danny Carr played in Jordan Slew, with the Rotherham goalkeeper having to race off his line to clear the danger.

Luke Berry then sent an just wide from the edge of the area as the visitors continued their bright start, and Slew went close from a tight angle.

The hosts' first chance of note came when Matt Derbyshire latched onto Joe Newell's back-post cross, but the former Blackburn Rovers striker was unable to divert the ball towards goal.

Derbyshire went close with two more efforts from Newell and Richard Smallwood crosses as the half wore on and the Millers began to control the game.

Just as it appeared Cambridge would hold on for the break, however, Bowery headed home from close range to put his side ahead.
