Nicky Adams: 'We can gain promotion from League One'

Rotherham United midfielder Nicky Adams backs his side to reach the Championship this season.

Rotherham United midfielder Nicky Adams believes that the club have the quality to gain promotion to the Championship this season.

The Millers, who were promoted from League Two last season, currently occupy fifth position in League One with 17 games remaining.

"If you look at the success the club has had over the last 18 months, getting promoted from League Two is not easy and then we're flying high in League One, getting to the Championship is the aim," he told reporters.

"That is one of the reasons I came here because of the ambition of the club. With the players we have got here I don't see why we can't reach the Championship, we have got a long way to go but I believe if we carry on like we are doing then we have a great chance.

"The club is set up for the Championship, if we can get there we could have a real go. League One is a tough league and there are no easy games. We have to take it one game at a time and keep the momentum going and then we're in with a chance."

Adams joined the club from Crawley Town in January.
