Rotherham United assistant boss Paul Raynor: 'We cannot rely on others'

Rotherham United assistant boss Paul Raynor believes that his side cannot rely on others to save themselves from relegation from the Championship.

Rotherham United assistant boss Paul Raynor has insisted that his side have to take the initiative to haul themselves to safety in the Championship.

The Millers suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of promotion-chasing Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium as Lee Tomlin and Patrick Bamford netted in the second half.

Rotherham are seven points clear of the drop zone, but the gap could be close to four points when relegation rivals Wigan Athletic and Millwall face off on Tuesday, leading to increased urgency for Steve Evans's side.

Raynor told Sky Sports News: "We've got games to play and points to pick up and we've got our eye on other results as well.

"We can't rely on others, we've got to look after ourselves. If we can stay in this division and establish ourselves we'll get better, but this season is about survival now.

"People are saying it might be a point or two or three that sees us safe. Let's get a couple of wins and then we can all relax."

The Millers are next in action against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Wednesday.
