Russia coach Dick Adovaat has admitted that he is happy after his side comfortably beat the Czech Republic 4-1 in their opening game of Euro 2012.

Alan Dzaegov scored a brace, while Roman Shirokov and substitute Roman Pavlyuchenko were also on the scoresheet on Friday night at the Municipal Stadium in Wraclow.

"We are quite happy, we scored four goals and in any international game that is a very good result," Advocaat told reporters.

"We could have scored more goals, in fact we should have scored more as we had a lot of chances."

The 64-year-old Dutchman also praised Andrey Arshavin, who gave an impressive performance from midfield for the Russians.

"He worked very hard and he played very well," he added. "He is a very important player for us for the way we play and he was very, very good. I am very positive about him."

Co-hosts Poland played out an entertaining 1-1 draw with Greece in Friday's other Group A clash.
