Fabio Capello: 'Russia team too insular'

Fabio Capello advises some of his Russian team to seek moves away from Russia's domestic league in a bid to broaden their horizons.

Russia coach Fabio Capello has encouraged some of his players to seek moves away from the country's domestic league in order to further their development.

None of Capello's 23-man squad plies their trade outside of Russia at club level.

With the nation struggling in their World Cup campaign thus far, the former England boss believes that it would be beneficial for his playing staff to leave their comfort zone to aid success in future tournaments.

"I think that playing abroad helps everyone mature and improve," he told FIFA.com.

"Russia hadn't participated in a World Cup for 12 years and we have to remember that. If you always play in the same championship it is very difficult to improve."

The Russians must beat Algeria in their final Group H encounter this evening to stand any chance of reaching the last 16, having drawn with South Korea and lost to Belgium.
