Andrea Belotti's 93rd-minute strike has given Palermo a dramatic 2-1 victory over nine-man Sassuolo this evening.
Luca Rigoni nodded home from Paulo Dybala's corner in the third minute to give the hosts a dream start.
Dybala then almost immediately made it 2-0, but Andrea Consigli pushed the forward's shot behind for a corner as Sassuolo struggled to deal with Palermo's onslaught from kickoff.
Michel Morganella flashed a shot narrowly wide after the interval before Consigli was shown a straight red card with more than 20 minutes remaining for a cynical challenge.
Franco Vazquez, Dybala and Geancarlo Gonzalez then all wasted good chances for Palermo, and their misses looked as though they would be costly as substitute Leonardo Pavoletti levelled for the visitors with five minutes remaining.
However, Belotti swept the ball home three minutes into injury time to win the game for the jubilant home side.
There was still time for Stefano Sorrentino to deny Simone Zaza a late equaliser, and Paolo Cannavaro was shown the second red card of the game with seconds left as Palermo edged a feisty Serie A encounter.
