Lothar Matthaus 'eyes Scotland manager's job'

Former Germany international Lothar Matthaus reportedly enters the running for the manager's job with the Scotland national team.

Former Germany international Lothar Matthaus has reportedly set his sights on becoming the new manager of the Scotland national team.

The 51-year-old is believed to have entered the fray following the dismissal of coach Craig Levein last month.

It is understood that representatives of the former Hungary coach have contacted the Scottish Football Association over the vacancy, according to BBC Sport.

Former Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle, ex-Tottenham Hotspur coach Joe Jordan and former Celtic manager Gordon Strachan are also thought to be in the running for the position.
