Roberto Soldado scored his 15th and 16th goals of the season as Valencia continued their fine recent form with a 2-0 victory over Sevilla at the Mestalla this evening.

Valencia, who have now won four consecutive games for the first time since November 2011, dominated the match from start to finish and deservedly broke the deadlock on 50 minutes.

Adil Rami flicked a near-post corner into the path of Soldado, who tapped home from very close range.

The hosts then doubled their lead two minutes from time when Soldado planted a powerful header into the bottom left corner following a pinpoint cross from Ever Banega.

Valencia climb to seventh in the La Liga table, while Sevilla, who failed to record a single shot on target until the 87th minute, stay 12th.
