Sheffield Wednesday boss Dave Jones admits that his side were lucky to beat Barnsley, but believes that they were due some good fortune.

Sheffield Wednesday manager Dave Jones has admitted that his side rode their luck during their 1-0 win over Barnsley this afternoon.

Wednesday ended a seven-match losing streak courtesy of a Chris O'Grady strike, but Barnsley keeper Luke Steele appeared to be fouled by Gary Madine in the build-up to the goal.

Jones, however, believes that the Owls were due a slice of luck after a series of decisions in recent weeks went against his side.

"It was ugly but well-earned. We had Lady Luck on our side for a change, but we deserved it because we battled hard," said Jones.

"Gary has admitted that he has barged the goalkeeper, we have not had that luck but today it was our time. We got the break today, last week we battered Bristol City and didn't get the break.

"But I thought the referee had an absolute shocker to be fair. Everything after that went against us and he struggled to keep control."

The result lifts Wednesday off the foot of the Championship table, putting them level on points with Barnsley and 21st-placed Bristol City.
