Sheffield Wednesday pull off a shock 3-1 win away to Hull in their Championship clash this afternoon.

Struggling Sheffield Wednesday have secured three valuable points with a shock 3-1 win over Hull City at the KC Stadium this afternoon.

Wednesday took the lead midway through the half when Reda Johnson got on the end of Rhys McCabe's in-swinging cross to head past Eldin Jakupovic in the Hull goal.

The Owls almost doubled this surprise lead less than five minutes later as Michail Antonio looked to take advantage of Hull's failure to clear a corner, but Jakupovic reacted well to make the save.

The hosts began to push for an equaliser towards the end of the first half, and almost got it two minutes before the break when Ahmed El-Mohamady's cross was met by Stephen Quinn's powerful header, but he could only direct it wide.

Robert Koren was guilty of missing Hull's best chance of the opening period right on the stroke of half time, however, failing to convert with only Chris Kirkland to beat.

Wednesday thought that they had extended their lead just before the hour mark when Giles Coke scrambled the ball over the line, but the referee disallowed the goal for an alleged foul in the build-up.

The hosts equalised with just seven minutes of normal time remaining when Koren rose highest in the box to head El-Mohamady's past a stranded Kirkland.

They were only level for two minutes, however, as Wednesday went straight up the other end and regained their lead. Miguel Llera's corner was spilled into his own net by Jakupovic, who then had to go off injured after a collision with Johnson after the ball had crossed the line.

Wednesday secured all three points in stoppage time when Antonio left his marker, rounded the keeper and slotted the ball into the empty net.

That wasn't the end of the drama, however, as Jeremy Helan brought Jay Simpson down in the box, giving the ref no choice but to award a penalty. Simpson stepped up himself, but Kirkland guessed right and saved the spot kick to end the match 3-1.
