Southampton midfielder Steven Davis happy with Chelsea draw

Steven Davis believes that Southampton were good value for their 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Southampton midfielder Steven Davis has insisted that his side fully deserved their 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Saints came away from West London with a share of the spoils on Sunday as Dusan Tadic's penalty cancelled out Diego Costa's opener.

Despite Chelsea laying siege to the visitors' goal in the second half, Davis believes that Southampton can be proud of their efforts to keep the Premier League leaders out.

"I think the first half we felt we did really well," he told the club's official website. "Obviously second half they had a bit more possession and we maybe could have taken care of the ball a little bit better at times, but I thought we looked a threat and we looked to cause them problems.

"All in all it was a good performance, a good result for us. Whenever you come to places like this you need your goalkeeper to have a good game, which Fraser [Forster] definitely did."

Southampton are back in action on Saturday when they host Burnley.
