Jose Fonte "glad" Morgan Schneiderlin remains at Southampton

Jose Fonte expresses that the whole Southampton team are delighted that the club have kept hold of Morgan Schneiderlin.

Southampton captain Jose Fonte has expressed that the team are "pleased" to have Morgan Schneiderlin still at the club.

Manager Ronald Koeman deemed the midfielder not to be in the right frame of mind following interest from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

However, despite numerous Southampton players, including Adam Lallana, Luke Shaw and Calum Chambers, moving to new clubs, Schneiderlin looks to remain at St Mary's.

"We are pleased that he's still here, and we hope that he keeps being here," the Daily Echo quotes Fonte as saying. "You saw he keeps his head down and he does what he has to do. He's a professional.

"Obviously, these things can sometimes play with your mind, but he's been a very good professional, very good for us, and we are just glad that we still have him."

Schneiderlin scored Southampton's first goal in Saturday's 3-1 victory over West Ham United.
