Pablo Osvaldo receives three-match suspension

Southampton frontman Pablo Osvaldo is suspended for three matches by the Football Association after being found guilty of violent conduct.

Southampton striker Pablo Osvaldo has been suspended for three matches and fined £40,000 by the Football Association after being found guilty of violent conduct.

Osvaldo was handed the charge for his part in an altercation during Southampton's match against Newcastle United at St James' Park on December 14, which included players and staff from both sides.

The Italy international will miss this weekend's FA Cup match against Burnley, along with league matches against West Bromwich Albion and Sunderland.

"Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today, Southampton's Dani Osvaldo has been suspended for three matches with immediate effect and fined £40,000 after a charge of violent conduct against him was found proven," read a statement on the FA's website.

Newcastle coach Andy Woodman, who was also involved in the incident, has been fined £1,250 after he accepted a charge of improper conduct.
