Mauricio Pochettino: 'Southampton progressing well'

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino is pleased with his side's defensive showing against West Bromwich Albion.

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that he is pleased with the progress that his side have shown in recent games.

Pochettino said that in the 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion his side improved at the back and was delighted to have achieved a clean sheet.

"I think the evolution as of late has been good, I think the team has progressed a lot," he told BBC Sport. "I think the team as of late has been playing better, but it has been lacking defensive solidity.

"Today we recovered that, we recovered that winning spirit, we recovered that solidity at the back."

Adam Lallana scored the only goal as Southampton moved to on 30 points.
