Southampton defender Dan Seaborne returns to action after 10 months out with a "life-threatening" head injury in a pre-season friendly against Exeter City last night.

Southampton defender Dan Seaborne returned to action last night following a 10-month spell on the sidelines with a head injury.

The 25-year-old suffered serious injuries after allegedly being beaten up outside a nightclub in September last year, which were initially deemed "life threatening".

Following a lengthy road to recovery, the centre-back took to the pitch as one of the Saints XI yesterday in a pre-season friendly against his former club Exeter City.

Seaborne has been with the newly-promoted Premier League side since 2010.
