James Ward-Prowse hoping for Mauricio Pochettino stay

Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse claims that it would be a "major blow" if manager Mauricio Pochettino joins Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse has claimed that it would be a "major blow" if manager Mauricio Pochettino leaves the club this summer.

Pochettino has been heavily linked with taking over at Tottenham Hotspur following Tim Sherwood's sacking at White Hart Lane earlier this month.

However, Ward-Prowse is hoping that the Argentine decides to stay with the Saints to guide them through the 2014-15 campaign.

"It would be a major blow to lose him - all the players love him," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"He demands a lot from us, and it is hard work, but it has been proved to work. None of us want to see him go. He is a fantastic manager and he has done really well."

Southampton secured an eighth-placed finish in the Premier League table last season under Pochettino.
