Southampton have reportedly agreed to sign Sporting Lisbon defender Cedric Soares.
The 23-year-old was linked with the Hampshire club last week, with Saints believed to be ahead of Stoke City in the race for his signature.
According to The Mirror, Southampton have now agreed a deal with the Portuguese side.
It is thought that Saints were interested in a move for Arsenal's Carl Jenkinson, but the Gunners' reluctance to let the England international go on a permanent basis may have ended their interest.
Soares's reported capture could also lead to Nathaniel Clyne's expected departure from St Mary's.
Manchester United are said to be interested in the right-back, but Liverpool are understood to be in pole position to sign Clyne after having a bid rejected last week.
