Marcelino 'favourite for Spain position'

Villarreal boss Marcelino is the favourite to replace Vicente del Bosque as Spain manager this summer, according to a report.

Villarreal boss Marcelino is reportedly the favourite to replace Vicente del Bosque as Spain boss after Euro 2016.

Although there has been no official confirmation, it is widely understood that Del Bosque will step down from his role with La Roja following the conclusion of this summer's European Championships.

A number of candidates have been linked with the position, but according to Football Espana, Marcelino leads a list that also includes Unai Emery, Paco Jemez and Julen Lopetegui.

The Yellow Submarine manager, who made seven Spain Under-21 appearances during his playing career, only signed a new long-term contract at El Madrigal last November.
