Vicente del Bosque bemoans "unthinkable" result

Spain coach Vicente del Bosque claims that he was almost in disbelief when his side failed to beat Finland in Friday's World Cup Group I qualifier.

Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has claimed that he was almost in disbelief after his side failed to beat Finland in Friday's World Cup Group I qualifier.

The reigning champions, who took the lead early in the second half when Sergio Ramos headed home, had more than 80% of ball possession at Estadio El Molinon.

However, they were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw, after Teemu Pukki netted a 78th-minute equaliser.

"It seems impossible that, after dominating the first and second half, we have drawn the match," said Del Bosque.

"We could have been more composed in front of goal. We couldn't create enough clear shots and we were unable to get the second goal to finish off the game.

"They closed us down very well and then the unthinkable happened - they scored. We didn't contemplate the counterattack. We dominated the game so much that our defenders began to think that all they needed to do was attack."

Spain, who now face France in Paris on Tuesday, are unbeaten in their last 19 games.
