Steven Caulker believes that it was a "harsh" decision to disallow his headed goal during Tottenham Hotspur's draw with Lazio on Thursday evening.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Steven Caulker has said that he was pleased with the draw against Lazio on Thursday evening despite being denied a possible winning goal by the referee at White Hart Lane.

The 20-year-old looked to have given Spurs the lead with a towering header but Ovidiu Alin Hategan disallowed the goal for an alleged push on Stefano Mauri.

Caulker said: "I thought it was a little harsh but I haven't seen the replay yet. I was glad to keep the clean sheet and hopefully we'll go forward in the next game.

"They are one of the strongest sides in our group so we're pleased with the point but we set out to win. But we'll rebuild and go again."

Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas has appealed for UEFA to punish Lazio supporters if allegations of racist chanting during the game are proven.
