Hugo Lloris makes his Spurs debut for the Europa League opener against Lazio, while Clint Dempsey and Steven Caulker also start.

Summer-signing Hugo Lloris has been handed his debut in a strong Tottenham Hotspur side for their Europa League opener against Lazio tonight.

Andre Villas-Boas has signaled his intent to take the competition seriously by making just three changes to the lineup that beat Reading 3-1 on Sunday.

England Under-21 central defender Steven Caulker makes his first appearance of the season in place of William Gallas.

Along with Lloris, Clint Dempsey is given his first Spurs start and will provide support for lone striker Jermain Defoe.

Germany forward Miroslav Klose leads the line for Lazio, who have won all three of their opening Serie A games.

Spurs: Lloris; Walker, Caulker, Vertgonhen, Naughton; Sandro, Dembele; Bale, Dempsey, Lennon, Defoe

Lazio: Marchetti; Dias, Biava, Cavanda, Mauri, Hernanes, Gonzalez, Lulic, Onazi, Ledesma, Klose
