Agent: 'Gareth Bale is better than Barcelona's Neymar'

Gareth Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett believes that the Wales international is a better player than Barcelona new boy Neymar and says the deal to take Bale to Madrid was "tough and problematic".

World record signing Gareth Bale is better than Neymar, according to the Wales international's agent Jonathan Barnett.

The former Tottenham forward completed his £86m move to the Spanish capital in the final days of the transfer window after a protracted saga that lasted all summer.

Bale's representative Barnett has now claimed that the world's most expensive player is better than new Barcelona attacker Neymar and admits the deal to take Bale to Los Blancos was "tough and problematic".

"Bale has played in the Premier League and has won a lot of trophies. For me, he's better than Neymar," Barnett told La Sexta.

"The deal never fell apart in the end but it came close on several occasions.

"It wasn't all peace and love in the meetings. Negotiations were tough and problematic.

"Tottenham made us a great offer to stay and there was another club that offered much more than Real Madrid."

It has been reported that Manchester United made an offer for Bale of more than £100m.
