Jermain Defoe admits that he may have to leave Tottenham to keep his Euro 2012 dream alive.

Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe has admitted that he may leave the club in January in order to keep his Euro 2012 dream alive.

The 29-year-old striker has fallen out of favour this season, with boss Harry Redknapp preferring Emmanuel Adebayor as the lone striker.

Defoe came off the bench to score in last weekend's 3-1 win at West Brom, but fears that a lack of regular football could harm his chances of a place at Euro 2012.

"[Leaving Spurs] has crossed my mind. Leading into a massive tournament you want to make sure you're on that plane. Having had that buzz before, you want it again," said Defoe.

"The problem is I just need to play regularly. The other forwards are playing regularly and scoring goals so they deserve to be in the squad."

Tottenham could move into second place with victory over Bolton at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon.
